Paneer Kali Mirch Recipe

Paneer kali mirch is prepared using an onion and curd based gravy. Thus rich gravy is from north Indian cuisine. It tastes delicious. It is to be served along with roti/naan. Kali Mirch aka black pepper powder which is freshly ground is used generously which is not overpowering but still tantalise your taste buds with its subtle taste. Tender stems of coriander leaves also add nice flavour to the dish. It is so much flavorful. This white gravy based dish is little sweet in taste.

Recipe Notes

From total quantity of oil, cream and pepper powder, it is been added into two stages. Do not add water while grinding onion cashew paste.

Ingredients For Paneer Kali Mirch Recipe

Methods
  • 1. Soak kaju in warm water for about an hour. Dice the paneer into cubes. Cut the onions into chunks.
  • 2. Heat oil in a pan. Add bay leaf, cardemom, clove. Also add onion, garlic pods, ginger and green chillies.
  • 3. Saute it till raw smell of onion goes off.
  • 4. Remove the water and add kaju into it.
  • 5. Add 2 cups water into it and cook for about 10 minutes. Remove the bay leaf and grind it into smooth paste.
  • 6. In a bowl add hung curd, fresh cream, salt, kasoori methi, cardemom powder, black pepper powder and chopped tender stems of coriander and mix well.
  • 7. Add grated cheese and corn flour into it.
  • 8. Add 1 tsp oil in to it and mix it well.
  • 9. Add paneer cubes into it and coat it well with marination.
  • 10. Keep it aside for about 15 minutes to marinate.
  • 11. Arrange it into satay stick and cook on pan using little oil on low flame. It can also be cooked in oven or tandoor.
  • 12. In a pan add oil and butter. Now add crushed paste od onion-cashew and stirr well.
  • 13. Cook the gravy till oil is seperated.
  • 14. Add sugar, cardemom powder, black pepper powder, coriander stems and milk and mix it.
  • 15. Remove the paneer from stick and add to white gravy.
  • 16. Cook it for further 5 minutes. Lastly add some fresh cream on top
  • 17. Garnish it with chopped coriander stems and pepper powder and serve with roti or naan or paratha.
