1. You can add veggies while boiling tuar dal for sambhar. 2. Roasted chana dal can be added while making coconut chutney.

Ingredients For Sambhar Vada with Coconut Chutney Recipe

Methods
  • 1. Soak the urad daal for 5-6 hours. Add a little amount of asafoetida and grind it to make a smooth batter. Add salt as per required. Mix for 5-7 minutes.
  • 2. Heat oil in a wok. Make round vadas and slid in hot oil.
  • 3. Cook till golden brown from all the sides at low to medium flame.
  • 4. For making sambhar, transfer washed tuar daal in pressure cooker. Add salt, turmeric powder, tomatoes , onion , ginger and green chillies.
  • 5. Give it 4-5 whistles. Open when pressure is released.
  • 6. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida, mustard seeds and dry red chilli.Add salt(if needed) coriander powder, sambhar masala, red chilli powder and tamarind pulp. Mix well. Turn off the flame.
  • 7. Add this tempering to tuar dal. Heat and add water to maintain proper consistency of the sambhar.
  • 8. For chutney preparation, transfer freshly grated coconut in a blender. Add salt, cumin powder , curd, peanuts, green chilli, fresh coriander leaves. Blend adding required quantity of water.
  • 9. Temper chutney with cumin seeds , curry leaves, mustard seeds and red chilli.
  • 10. Transfer vada in a serving plate. Serve hot.
