Recipe Notes

The dough of bati should be stiff otherwise bati should not make firm. You can make bati into kadai or appetizers pan also.

Ingredients For Dal bati and churma Recipe

Methods
  • 1. For bati, in a mixing bowl take wheat flour and coarse wheat flour. Add salt, ajwain, ghee and baking soda. Mix well. Prepare tight dough with enough water. Knead well and rest for 15 minutes.
  • 2. Then make equal size balls from it and press with thumb in centre and make a dent. Put all balls in baking tray and grease with ghee. Bake into preheated oven for 15 minutes. Then flip the sides and bake again for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Bati is ready.
  • 3. Keep 3-4 batis aside for churma and soak rest batis into melted ghee for 1-2 minutes.
  • 4. Wash and soak all dals together mentioned above in enough water for 30 minutes. Then cook in pressure cooker with enough water, salt and turmeric powder.
  • 5. Grind onions in mixer grinder and make paste. Grind tomatoes and make puree.
  • 6. In a pan heat oil. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When crackles add asafoetida and dry red chillies. Add ginger garlic paste and onion paste. Saute for sometimes. Add tomato puree and saute till oil separates.
  • 7. Add red chili powder, dhania Jeera powder and garam masala powder. Mix well. Add boiled dals and required amount of water. Mix well. Adjust salt and cook dal for 10-12 minutes on low flame or till you get the desired consistency. Add chopped coriander leaves. Dal is ready.
  • 8. For churma, take 3-4 batis and crush with hand. Then grind in mixer grinder and make coarse powder.
  • 9. In a pan heat ghee. Add coarse powder and roast for 2-3 minutes. Off the flame. Add powdered sugar and cardamom powder. Mix well. Garnish with almond flakes.
  • 10. How to serve:- in a plate break bati into pieces with hand. Pour dal over it. Apply red garlic chutney and chopped onion. Pour some ghee and enjoy with churma.
